The stickler is that it then would become property of the respective city thereby increasing their maintenance costs. The idea behind these programs is to increase the city's canopy without increasing their maintenance costs. Additionally, canopy surveys have shown that private properties are the most deficient in canopy cover and hold the best promise to increase the canopy without increasing costs to the city.<br /><br />Also a great suggestion on the <b>tree species offered. </b> We will post something later in the week about the species being offered for Minneapolis as well as any that may be left for St Louis Park. I have a ...Why are trees not allowed on boulevards? I have a very small Minneapolis corner lot and would be able to plant two trees on one of the boulevards. The city forester even gave me the ok. However, I can't afford the $300-500 per tree cost. If there is concern about the tree canopy, I would think everyone would want more trees no matter where they are...boulevard or backyard.
